Ramblings From the Editor! I want to thank all of you who contributed to this month's newsletter! GOOD WORK SHIPMATES!! This is what the newsletter is all about! We want to know what our shipmates are up to! We want to look at your family pictures, your vacation in Tullieville photos, pictures of your grandkids, your blog site, your favorite web site, and yes, even pictures of you!!! THANK YOU!! On another front; It would be nice to start hearing about our 2007 reunion plans! If the committee is having problems, let us know. There are a lot of us out here willing to help! I for one volunteer my talents for making flyers, artwork, etc. Not picking on you guys, but the silence is deafening!

I'm heading off for Cripple Creek, Colorado with a group of veteran bikers for a week or so! It's a big, yearly veteran get together! It will be a fun trip, but I am not looking forward to to trying to get my sleeping bag, tent, foul weather gear, change of clothes, douche kit, etc. on my bike! Luckily I have submarine training!!! This Ain't no Bull S**t!!! House That? by Gary Sievers, TMC/SS Ret As a TM2/SS on the Alexander Hamilton, I was in the process of training a new TM in the operation of the anchor. We were riding at anchor and the Bridge called down, "House the anchor." The reply from my trainee was, "Fine sir, how's the bridge?" With that, you could hear the laughter throughout the entire forward end of the Boat, but he got his answer. "Torpedo room,... Bridge. Just fine,... now reel it in!"

May ride at anchor for a little space And then, some starless night the cable slips, Leaving an eddy at the mooring place... Gulls, veer no longer. Sailor, rest your oar. No tangled wreckage will be washed ashore.

RADM Eugene Fluckey dodged the bullet so to speak. He was in the hospital, the life sustaining drugs and hydration were removed, his family had said goodbye to him and his former XO was making the funeral arrangements. In fact, we were told that he had indeed passed away and we reported it as such. Fortunately, this old warrior isn't quite ready to depart this world and, although in rough shape, the "Galloping Ghost of the China Coast" is still with us! Hang tough, GENE-you are one great guy.
