Shipmates! I am finishing up this newsletter after just getting out of a 4 day stay in the hospital. Some idiot turned left in front of me and my motorcycle. Akiko was on the back, so she is pretty banged up too. I am going to send the newsletter out as-is, as I am not healthy enough right now to work on it. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pecos Gobblin' From the Editor!
I hope that all of you had a good time visiting with relatives and grandkids and are now settling back for a long winters nap ... dang! Now is the time to ease into the wonderful Yule tide world of Christmas. Puffy white snow and glittering trees, wild eyed kids, presents on knees! On Comet, on Cupid, on Dancer and Blitzen. On Worm, on Snake, on Goat and Mr. Nixon! When out on the porch was heard such a clatter, that we all grabbed our guns to repel Sheik Ali-Ban A'Statter. When what to our wondering eyes should appear, but old COB MacFarland grinning ear to ear. He picked up his camera to capture our surprise, but fell down and broke it, again I surmise! As he lay there a snoring way deep in the snow, a klaxon was heard, three times, no mo'! A great black conn then did appear, and the deck soon followed front to rear. Periscopes whirling and antennas a-whip, hatches popped open and up came the Skip! "What hey, what ho, we found him, let's go." and the crew poured like ants from the various holes. They stood there a sparkling in their tattered old clothes, looking and smelling like someone's big toes! They gathered the COB in their rough oily hands, and carried him up to his now cheering fans. The crew looked aflutter and vanished into the hive, the Captain then ordered the boat to full dive. And as the boat sank to it's home down below, The Captain did grin and put his finger to nose. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good .....glug!! As most of you can tell, the characters involved are from the '60's crew under Captain Davis! Don't mean to leave the rest of you guys out, that wasn't my intention! We are all brothers of the Spinax 'Phin, but this is just the era that I know the best. There! That's my PC comment for the month!!!

"LIFE AFTER SPINAX" BIOGRAPHIES: There is a move afoot to get a "biography" from ALL Spinax Shipmates reflecting "Life after Spinax" ... everyone wants them, including me so I can set them up for entry into the Spinax Website for Pecos, then send them on to the Thormahlen's to be input into a "special surprise!" I have about 5 Biographies at the present and have "harassed" many shipmates to write them and send them to me. It doesn't really matter who you send them to as we, Pecos, Elaine & Jack Thormahlen (I always have to look their name up to ensure I spell it correctly!) or myself, as we will forward them to one another. JUST WRITE AND SEND THEM IN SHIPMATES!!!! ... and don't be bashful, I personally find it interesting when I hear or read about shipmates' lives. Some of our "lives" have been exciting, some maybe not so much so, but I am certain everyone has "done" interesting things since their "Spinax daze!" Heck, my ole good friend Otis Nelson sent me his "laconic" life's bio' ... (About 15 words: "Went to work in construction for 30 years, retired ... that's it, Otis" ... and that is Otis, the way he was, the way he is, "to the point" and Otis doesn't wastes any words to get that "point" across! (he he he) So, write them and send them to Pecos, Linda & Jack, or me, it's simple, just please do it shipmates!!! My best to each of you and your families! Remember to, "Live, Love, Learn, & Leave a Legacy" Also need your then and now photos! Please send to Pecos and/or Terry Whitecar!
How is this for a "before and after?"
Thanks to Pecos, he superimposed my "now" image over COB McFarland so that I appear to be giving my "then" image the treasured painting of our beloved SPINAX to me Who can guess the names of those behind me? Contest? Jay K. Davis |
