I thought it would be fun to do a short walk down memory lane before all of the gray cells died off..... who can remember???? What happened to "Crasher Field"? Did he ever qualify after he managed to destroy the fishing pier in Alaska and put a nice dent in the tender during one of his white knuckle landings that put Spinax in dry dock for the replacement bow? Who had the little "black hand" stamp that the engineering gang used to mark important messages? Who else witnessed COB MacFarland standing in the middle of a river.... doing a bear routine in Alaska... kicking salmon on to the bank? Is the rumor true that our XO Bob Hyde ... actually laid down in the road to stop a car for a ride back to the boat..? What about the good time we had "snorkeling high" when the head valve circuit was inop during the same 1963 Alaskan trip..... filled the bilges with very heavy water and we went very deep aft if memory serves..... And the small arms weapons training from the bridge...we blasted anything that flew, floated or swam by..... no EPA in those days... What happened to "Pig Pen" Hallan... our trusty man on the WLR-1? He had the sleeping bag with hunting scenes that we all dumped after shave on to kill the smell. I remember the power Larry Hand and I held in our hands... as we controlled the news both real and otherwise. We strung everyone along for about five days with the story of a UFO landing in New Mexico. The game was over when we had the on scene team of researchers examine the object through a proctoscope. Captain Davis understood the big words even if Hunter and Bennet and Helms didn't.

There must be more stories or replies out there... the web page needs some life!
