Our Grandson spent the day with us this past Tuesday. He is on an Assault Team  with Third Infantry in Baghdad and home on leave. He showed us pictures , on his laptop , quite similar to this.

We are very proud of him and the other troops putting their lives on the line protecting us and these blow hards  that carry their signs & run their mouths about their better way. .

We get some pretty cool sunsets out here…

War memorial in An Nasiriyah

Me in my office…

It breaks your heart to see the poverty out here, especially when it affects children, but we’re trying to do all we can to provide for the people in this area.  Stacie sent me some clothing, shoes, and toys to hand out to the locals…

Some of the locals…

Having lunch with the sheik.  Most meals are rice with lamb, fish, fruit, and

flatbread (similar to pita bread).  Everyone sits on the floor and eats with their hands.

Me and some of the local kids.

This is the house where the prophet Abraham lived thousands of years ago

before leaving Mesopotamia for the Land of Canaan.

These are the ruins of King Nebuchadnezzar’s Palace and the catacombs

where the royal family was buried.

The Ziggurat of Ur.  This temple is the oldest manmade structure in the world.

Just another day at work…  Me and some of my guys.

This is the hospital where Jessica Lynch was held and from which she was rescued.

Test firing a machine gun before going out on patrol.

We captured an enemy weapons cache and destroyed it in place.  I’m glad we

took these explosives out of their hands before they used them against us or

(more likely) the local population.

Dasty, one of my dogs, in his flak jacket.  He hates wearing this thing (can’t say

I blame him) but it makes for a funny picture.

Me with Congressmen Mike Simpson, Butch Otter and Senator Larry Craig

(all from Idaho).  I provided security for them on a mission to visit Idaho National

Guard soldiers here in Iraq.  It was a good time.

Me and my lieutenants after finishing the “Boston Marathon in Iraq”.  We finished

the 26.2 mile course with all our gear, rucksacks, and weapons.

With a couple of squads getting ready for a mission.  I thought I’d include this

photo to show what the sand storms can be like.  Take care!
