Life Afer Spinax: David Berrettini After we decomissioned
Spinax I received orders to the USS
Tiru (SS416)
out of San Diego. Shortly thereafter we deployed on another
WESTPAC cruise. Having just completed one on the Spinax, I
wasn't overjoyed at the time, but I can sure remember plenty
of good times along with the bad. Made EM2 on the trip. We
returned to San Diego and received news that we were
changing homeports to
Charleston,SC.
Another big navy surprise!! The trip around was great! - Six
days in Acapulco
for starters - great liberty. I made a Med cruise on the
Tiru
and was discharged in November of 1971. I returned to
California; got a job; got married to my wife Christy;
Raised two great daughters and am trying to live happily
ever after. I am a building contractor and my wife is a
special education teacher. We both work hard to keep kids in
college and support our passion for horses. I spend most of
my time not working 'team roping' steers. David Berrettini
