Ronald Alfred Starr

Funeral services were held September 19 at Grandview Cemetery for Ronald Alfred Starr, 56, Bonners Ferry, who died September 11 at Kootenai Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Long Beach, California, May 14, 1946 to Wilfred and Genevieve Starr and grew up in western Washington and North Idaho. In 1965, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a diesel engineer aboard the U.S.S. Spinax until 1967, when he returned to Idaho and met Jennie Lee Strohl in Hayden Lake. He moved to Anaheim, California to work for McDonald Douglas and Rockwell, and Jennie joined him there and they were wed September 2, 1967. They returned to Bonners Ferry in 1970 and their children, Jason and Dalaina, were born here.

Ron worked for Louisiana Pacific and later started Starr Trucking. For the past ten years, he worked for North Idaho Energy Logs driving a truck and serving as all-around handyman. He loved sailing and fishing, gold panning and camping, but his favorite times were those spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife at the home, his two children; grandchildren Jerica Starr and Tyler Oxford, his mother, twin sister Roberta Starr and brother Lowell Starr and several nieces and nephews.
