We are the crew of the Pampanito,
Trying to whip Hitler and Hirohito.
We haven't done much, but from what they say,
We'll sure give 'em hell if we keep
holding Field Day.

She leaks just a little, and the screws may be Shot.
Yet she rides like a dream,
And is never too hot.
The crew is first-class and the chow is O.K.
But the bunks are just exess,
We keep holding Field Day.

We're getting a bit tired,
But we never complain,
We'll ride her through depth charges,
Snowstorms and rain.
But we can't get much shipping,
If the officers all say;
Keep dogging the watch,
And start holding Field Day.

Gordon Hopper, USS Pampanito
